Drum & bass, liquid & jungle

Drum and bass radio, live from Paris: atmospheric drum and bass in the afternoon, rollers and liquid every evening on Wa3's Electronic channel. Atmospheric carries the Good Looking Records lineage — LTJ Bukem, Blu Mar Ten, Big Bud — Jungle the rollers and breaks of Marcus Intalex, Break and dBridge, Liquide the soulful side of Calibre and Seba. Mixed as sets, live and free.

Drum and bass grew out of jungle and the UK rave scene of the early nineties: breakbeats chopped and sped up to around 170 BPM over deep sub-bass. LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records pulled it towards jazz chords and open space — Blu Mar Ten, Big Bud, PFM — Photek, Source Direct and Omni Trio sharpened the breaks, and in the 2000s Calibre and Marcus Intalex gave it its soulful, liquid side.

Wa3 splits it by mood on the Electronic channel. Atmospheric plays in the afternoon — pads, rolling breaks and the Good Looking sound, for work or study. Jungle comes in the early evening with the rollers of Marcus Intalex, Break and dBridge, and Liquide carries the evening on with Calibre, Seba, LSB and Monrroe: the warmer side, for the drive home or cooking dinner.
