About Khaleeji
Khaleeji radio, live from Paris: Rashed Al-Majed, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Nabeel Shuail and Abu Baker Salim on وناسة, Wa3's Gulf show. It plays late in the evening and after midnight on the Arabica channel — the classics and the hits, free in any browser.
Khaleeji (خليجي) simply means 'of the Gulf': the popular song of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the Emirates and Oman, carried by the oud, hand drums and a clapped, swinging rhythm you can recognise in a few bars. In the crate its elder is Abu Baker Salim, born in Yemen's Hadhramaut; Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Rashed Al-Majed and the Kuwaiti Nabeel Shuail are the voices that followed.
وناسة — the Gulf word for a good time in good company — is Wa3's khaleeji show on the Arabica channel, and it keeps to the night: late evenings and the hours after midnight, Paris time. Rashed Al-Majed and Abdul Majeed Abdullah lead the crate, from Wahashteeni to Ya Tayeb Lqalb, with Majid Almohandis, AbdulRabb Idriss and Diana Haddad's duet with Eida Al Menhali.
